Dow’s #PullingOurWeight Campaign to raise awareness around plastic waste in the environment

Employees, families, friends and industry partners of Dow Australia are again collaborating to undertake the #PullingOurWeight campaign.

In its third year, they are asking everyone to be a self-starter and take part in self-paced beach/ waterway and neighbourhood clean-ups to bring attention to the issue of ocean and land plastic pollution.

The clean-up effort challenges participants to remove at least 2kg of waste per person from local waterways and neighbourhood areas. This is the average amount of waste that each person produces each and every day. This year, Dow will again work with Tangaroa Blue for the clean-ups from 9 to 15 November.

Advancing a circular economy is a key component in Dow’s sustainability journey. The organization’s recently announced sustainability targets to Protect the climate, Stop the waste, and Close the loop are ambitious targets that focus on reducing carbon emissions and eliminating plastic waste. The #PullingOurWeight campaign aligns is the first step to Stop the waste, ensuring plastic to be collected, reused or recycled through partnerships and education.

Dow is also a founding member of the Alliance to End Plastic Waste with over 30 companies committing more than $1.5 billion over the next five years in multiple projects, including on-the-ground waste management and infrastructure development.
